macOS · Menu bar · Homebrew install
Step-by-step installation via Terminal
Press ⌘ + Space to open Spotlight, type Terminal and press Enter.
Paste this command and press Enter. Homebrew will download and install the app — you may be prompted for your Mac password.
brew install --cask audio-control
When the command finishes, open audio-control from Applications or Spotlight (⌘ + Space). Use the menu bar icon to switch output/input devices and set volume per app — no need to open System Settings.
audio-control brings per-app volume and instant audio device switching to your menu bar — switch to AirPods or speakers in one click, and turn Spotify down without touching Zoom.
Audio routing stays on your Mac. Nothing you adjust is collected or transmitted.
All inputs and outputs in one list — click to activate, no Settings deep dive.
Separate sliders for each app that’s playing or recording audio.
Optional handoff when your headphones connect — or switch only when you want.
Keyboard shortcuts for devices, mute, and more — works system-wide.
